چکیده

The authors would to like to add a citation to a previously published article on a similar topic: Domokos, Gábor, and Timothy J. Healey. "Multiple helical perversions of finite, intrinsically curved rods." International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos 15.03 (2005): 871–890. This work relates to the present paper in the following way: the authors numerically study the response of a uniform rod of finite length with intrinsic curvature and identify equilibria characterized by an arbitrary number of perversions with intermittent helical segments.

Structural Transition from Helices to Hemihelices

Helices are amongst the most common structures in nature and in some cases, such as tethered plant tendrils, a more complex but related shape, the hemihelix forms. In its simplest form it consists of two helices of opposite chirality joined by a perversion. A recent, simple experiment using elastomer strips reveals that hemihelices with multiple reversals of chirality can also occur, a richness...

Self-assembly of hard helices: a rich and unconventional polymorphism.

Hard helices can be regarded as a paradigmatic elementary model for a number of natural and synthetic soft matter systems, all featuring the helix as their basic structural unit, from natural polynucleotides and polypeptides to synthetic helical polymers, and from bacterial flagella to colloidal helices. Here we present an extensive investigation of the phase diagram of hard helices using a var...

Investigation of effect of magnetic ordering on structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) using ab initio method

Structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu)  were studied  for each of three magnetic configurations nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic by using density functional theory in generalized gradient approximations (GGA) and strong correlation correction (GGA + U). Due to magnetic transition from antiferromagnetic to nonmagnetic phase, an electr...

In silico structural analysis of quorum sensing genes in Vibrio fischeri

Quorum sensing controls the luminescence of Vibrio fischeri through the transcriptional activator LuxR and the specific autoinducer signal produced by luxI. Amino acid sequences of these two genes were analyzed using bioinformatics tools. LuxI consists of 193 amino acids and appears to contain five α-helices and six ß-sheets when analyzed by SSpro8. LuxI belongs to the autoinducer synthetase fa...

A Qualitative Study on the Necessity of Transition from Discipline-based Model to Knowledge-based One in Farhangian University

This paper seeks to analyze the debate of two models in educational management, the discipline-centered and knowledge-based tradition, with an emphasis on the structural and modality differences between Daneshsar and Farhangian University, according to Michel Foucault's view of discipline and correction policies. In this paper, the qualitative and in particular the Grounded theory are used, and...
